** Some Northern MI counties have a Last Plant date of October 5 for Fall Wheat. Please check with your agent for your county’s Last Plant Date for wheat.
The crop insurance coverage is reduced by 1% for each day after the Final Planting Date for the next 25 days and the premium remains the same.
Crops that are planted after the 25 day Late Planting Period are insured at the same level as the prevented planted insurance coverage. Or the producer can also choose to NOT insure acres planted after the Late Planting Period.
Spring Crops – payment must be postmarked by 9/30 to avoid interest being applied.
Wheat/Forage – payment must be postmarked by 7/30 to avoid interest being applied.
When an insured sustains a loss, he/she must report the suspected loss to the agent who will then submit the NOL within 72 hours of the discovery of the damage or no later than 15 days after the end of the insurance period.
